when I sound-proofed my car using mass loaded vinyl, along with RAAMmat BXT II and Ensolite. I installed the MLV in a "convertible" configuration (with Velcro), so I can easily take it out, to remove the weight for track days. In addition to the vinyl, I used about 35 Sq. ft. of RAAMmat BXT II, and 10 sq ft. of Ensolite IUO Peel and Stick. See the article starting on page 10 here. Because MLV is so expensive to ship, I sourced it locally, from a company that sound-proofs buildings. They had rolls of remnants in their warehouse, and were generous enough to give me a roll large enough to sound-proof several cars. It weighs 1 lb per sq. ft., and they gave me an 80-pound slab! So I've been sharing the left-overs with my fellow club members.
